It is always sad when you have to put an animal down, especially dogs. When you get a dog you get a special bond with it. After seeing this video you see how important this one dog was. She saves dozens of peoples lives. I also realize that she has done more with her life than any of us have, and most of us are triple her age

Losing a dog is just as heartbreaking as losing a family member or a friend because a dog is part of the family. I remember the day I went to get my dog and it is a day I'll never forget. He is not that old but the day he goes, I know I'm going to be devastated. A bond between a dog and their owner can be one of the most positive relationships some people have. When your dog is happy, you are happier. When your dog is upset, you are upset.

Dogs truly have a remarkable power to bring joy and happiness to others and their unconditional love is so rewarding. No wonder why the man in the video is crying—the bond formed between a dog and its owner can be as strong and loving as a bond formed between two people. The fact that the dog’s group organized a mock search party for the last time is absolutely touching (I may have cried a little..aha) May this dog rest in peace!

I can't even imagine the day my dog dies. We have had her for so long, and she really has changed our lives. This is such a heartbreak and my heart goes out for anyone who was associated with this dog. But at least she didn't die without one final search. And what brought tears to my eyes as I watched this video was the fact that they organized this search for her. They didn't have to do that! But they cared so much for her that they felt they needed to. This is such a loving and depressing story- may this dog rest in peace!

Losing a dog or any animal is very sad. Dogs are such kind animals and this video brought tears to my eyes. I feel bad for the owner and anyone who became close with the dog. I am happy that the dog got got go on one final mission before she was put down. She was so happy when she was completing the mission. She is such a lively and happy dog. I hope she rests in peace.

Its so sad to think about putting your dog down, or any pet for that matter. That dog was so young and the bond with the owner and the dedication put into saving people''s lives made him/her very special. I know if my dog died I'd be so upset, shes a member of my family and sometime the bond between a dog and owner is the strongest relationship anyone could have. May this dog rest in peace.

I personally cannot say that I know what it is like to lose a dog, but I feel like losing a dog is the same as losing a family member. I do not have a dog, but I have always wanted one. I feel like a dog is like a daughter/son or a brother/sister. People grow up with a certain dogs. The hardest part about being a dog owner is whether to end their life when they are dying or wait until it naturally happens. It would be like taking your child off of life support. It is a very difficult decision. I feel these people made the right decision. The dog clearly had a good life and she will be greatly missed. It problems like this that makes you question about life.

I have lost two dogs in my lifetime and it is a truly awful experience. Dogs become a family member to you. They are amazing animals that can have such positive impacts on a person's life. This video is great. This poor dog would at least be able to spend its last day doing what it loved and shows just how much a dog can be loved by people.

I've always wanted a pet dog. A lot of my friends have dogs and I can see how much they are a part of their families. A special bond is created between an owner and their dog, and to lose a dog, I feel, would also be losing a piece of your heart. It was so heart breaking to hear about this dog's fate and to watch the man and woman cry in this video as they talked about the sad story of their dog. It is obvious that they love her so much just by the way they treated her and the way they talked about her. This dog and her service will not be forgotten, may she rest in peace.

Losing a dog is like loosing a member of the family. In this case this dog is like a member of the team. I have personally lost a dog in my lifetime and it is a very sad moment, so i know the people emotions their going through. R.I.P.

All of my cousins and many of my friends have pet dogs. As much as they scare me, I do have a place in my heart for these animals. The only dog I've ever truly loved was Meghan's little Miley. She was so cute and harmless, and when she was put down I saw first hand how much an animal could be a part of a family, and how strong a bond between a dog and its owner can be. This video broke my heart.

I have never had a dog and I am not a dog person but this video did tug at my heartstrings. I do know what it's like to lose a pet, my family has lost three cats in my lifetime. Pets do become a member of the family and it is absolutely heartbreaking when they pass on. May this service dog rest in peace.

I can remember the day I got my dog, and they day I had to put him down, it truly killed me having to put him down, especially at such a young age because he was only 5 years old in human years, but my family had no other choice, because he had broken three of his legs and couldn't even move. But i will always remember the bond I had with him, and the saying that dog is mans best friend is true.

After watching this video it made me realize how much people appreciate their animals and just how strong the bond can be. It is sad to have to see them go ecspecially in this case because Mishi has been able to help many people in her short life.

Losing a dog is like losing one of your closest family members. You truly bond with them throughout the years of owning them, and once you lose them or something happens to them, it is truly heart breaking. This dog seems as though it is amazingly intelligent and helpful. It is able to find people that may be lost or hurt and in search of help. When losing a dog like that, I'm sure it does hurt tremendously. I honor the people who have decided to put the poor dog down though. Instead of keeping the dog alive and keep it through the pain for selfish reasoning, they are ending its pain. Having to tell the vet to put your dog down is one of the toughest things to do. You don't want to lose your closest friend. You just feel as though you are killing it. Yet, you're really saving it. Just as these people did. They spared the dog of its pain and gave it peace.

I know how it feels to get attached to animals. I'm allergic to cats and dogs so after having to give away my hypoallergenic dog without the ability to get a new dog, I was devastated. I'm a huge animal person and to me it's so upsetting that so many animals have to be put down because of illnesses. I can't wait for the day we find a cure to these illnesses. Also, it's even sadder that this dog actually saved peoples lives by finding them. The dog is a hero so many people, and what some people don't understand is that a dog is not just a dog. It becomes a member of your family. It becomes your friend and it's hard to watch that friend go.

While it is really sad that amazing dogs like Mishi have to be put to sleep, it's for the best. It is better to take them out of their misery and suffering and know that they're in a better place. Dogs, like many other animals, are truly wonderful creatures, and it is even more wonderful when they are capable of and enjoy saving lives and helping others. I understand what it's like losing a dog. A while ago we had to put my dog Peanut to sleep because he had brain problems, and looking back at pictures of him I still continue to miss him. My aunt also just put her dog to sleep that I grew up with because he was getting old and sick and could barely walk. Both situations were heartbreaking and devastating because dogs are like family members and you really create a bond. I guess you just have to look at the positive side of things and realize that it's better for them.

It's so sad watching this and see people who love this dog cry and having to go through this. But this is also very touching to see how strong these people love this dog so much. I hope that one day they will get another dog and be able to love it just as much and I also hope that they won't have to go though this again.

it's very sad that he had to get put down. it's very sad in general that dogs don't get to live as log as humans but they already suffer the same diseases as us. it must be really hard for everyone who knew the dog, he was oldish too but they probably didn't think they're time would be too short. and it's also gonna be hard for them to train a whole new dog to take Mishi's spot on the squad.

I think it is sweet that the whole department had joined Mishi to make one last rescue run for his retirement. Having lost a dog to cancer I know how hard it is for everyone who got to know Mishi and I think this is a really touching story.

It's always sad to see an animal go through pain or suffer an illness, especially a dog so young. It's a really hard thing to experience especially if it's your own pet, but it's part of life and we just have to except it. Animals get sick just like humans do and the only thing you can do is hope it gets better. I feel really bad though, she seemed like such a sweet dog and I can't imagine what it feels like to know your own pet is going to have to be put down. I think it was a wise decision to put her down because at least she wasn't suffering.

I'm so sad that Mishi had to get put to sleep. I've never owned a pet dog but when I go to my friend's house and they own a dog I can see how happy the dog and the family are. I am very glad that Mishi has helped many people all over New England, and that's one of the many things that makes her wonderful.

This makes me sad being a dog owner. I have had 2 dogs in my life. I had my first dog put down 2 years ago so I know how it feels. The story about MIshi is sad because she is such a young dog but has such a horrible disease. Mishi looks a lot like my current dog.

I dread the day that I lose my dog. I have had him for 16 years now and he is still going strong. Dogs are truly mans best friend and this blog was a tear jerker. It is great that they got to do one last tribute to her before they put her down.

Losing a dog is painful because they become part of the family. Two years ago on Good Friday, we had to put Shaggy down. He was a German Shepard/Husky mix and he was one of the nicest dog I've seen. He had lumps grow on his lymph nodes everywhere, but the biggest on was on his neck. Even though the vet said it was non-cancerous, I believe that before he was put down that it was cancerous. I was glad I wasn't home that day because I probably would have lost my mind. It hurts to lose someone close to you especially a dog.

It is no surprise how devastated these people are. Losing mans best friend is like losing close friend. A dogs love for a human is unconditional, I like to think. Hopefully this is for the best and the dog will not suffer, this is all we can hope for in this situation. It is very unfortunate that it has to be this way

Having two dogs myself I must admit this was hard to watch. I can't stand the idea of a dog being put down but I know sometimes it's something that needs to happen. It's heartbreaking to see how pained everyone is and yet how happy Mishi is to be going out and doing her job. This video really makes you think about teams like these all over the country and how many people have to deal with this pain. It hurts but it's so beautiful to see how much love animals like these get from so many people. Comments are closed.
