Mexico’s tourism agency expects to draw 52 million visitors to the Chiapas, Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Campeche regions this coming year… normally only about 22 million people visit these areas.
According to Yeanet Zaldo, a spokesperson for the region, and an expert on Mayan history and culture, the famed calendar hardly speaks about the end of the world… it simply marks the end of a cycle, and the beginning of a new one.
As December 21, 2012 approaches, we are sure to hear more stories of people claiming there are signs that the world is ending… it just won’t be from the Mayan people…
