The latest, would-be victim survived after he escaped from two men shooting at him when he went for his interview... one of the shooters was a 16 year-old boy name Brogan Rafferty, the other was 52 year-old Richard Beasley. The phony Craigslist ad was posted on October 7 and offered $300 a week to, "simply watch over a 688 acre patch of hilly farmland."
Crimes stemming from Craigslist are becoming more common. In 2009 a former medical student, Phillip Markoff, was accused of killing a masseuse he met through the website... Markoff became known as "The Craiglist Killer", he committed suicide in 2010. Police in New York have been hunting for an apparent serial killer who is preying on prostitutes who advertise on Craigslist. The Long Island Serial Killer also known as The Giglo Killer is linked to at least ten victims.
