The study argues that children who use some sort of smart device before bed, or in bed while trying to fall asleep suffer from insomnia at a much higher rate that those who do not use their devices at this time. Screen time impairs the brain from "shutting down" and does not allow for deep sleep, which is need for proper brain function and development. Using the devices in an otherwise dark room has an even greater detrimental impact.
According to the study about 60% of children are showing signs of long-term issues associated with broken sleep patterns and the aforementioned brain development concerns.
So... do you shut down your devices when you go to bed???
