Scientists are developing, and to a certain degree have already developed methods of uploading information directly into your brain! Check out John Stewart's interview with theoretical physicist Michio Kaku.

At first glance I thought that this new technology and information could be very beneficial. Curing Alzheimer's in such an innovative way is very interesting, but where will the line be drawn? I think it is amazing that we could have the power to simply plug any information into our minds and have it mastered and there for our own use. It is astonishing how far science is progressing, but it is also scary. When all this information and data is being entered into our brains, what do we become? I think we must learn how to use, but not abuse this technology.

I think that this is a great new invention that will help people with alzheimers and memory loss. Although this is a great invention, will we be able to handle it? People could be geniuses and school probably wouldn't exist because people could upload all the information needed.. I think that the users of this invention should be limited doctors only and the new invention shouldnt be abused or used in a harmful way.

It's amazing how we have this technology already. This is such a great idea when it comes to elderly people losing their memory. As long as their memory can be basically put back into their brain is good for them because it hurts some people to see their grandparents or parents not remember somethings of sometimes even who they are. we souldnt abuse this or it can get out of control.

After watching the video I think that it is amazing the technology we have today to be able to implant a "brain pacemaker" to help people who have Alzheimer's disease recover some memory. Being able to increase your learning capability is a good idea but… some people could take this and make irresponsible people have super power brains to think up very intricate bombs or weapons on the other side though people with bad memories could improve their capabilities.

This technology is unbelievable and I am amazed at how far science has come. If there was cure for Alzheimer's, it would be such a great invention. Everyone wishes they could remember everything they learned but unfortunately we forget. Also, if the brain was able to learn even more information and work to its full capability it would be beneficial to our nation's economy. New occupations can be created that will eliminate a percentage of the unemployment rate. Another benefit would be better grades from students and more people in the country can be college graduates. Any technology that can be benefit our country and all citizens seems like a good idea to me.

This video amazes me so much. Before, I would have never thought that technology would ever be able to do what it can do today. There are so many things technology can do, and I can't wait to see what scientists can come up after this. Technology escalated so quickly! I think this idea is great for people with memory loss. It's outstanding that people are able to get their life back after losing it all. I had to rewatch the video a few times to understand what they are actually saying. They have practicaly found a cure to memory loss, which could save hundreds, if not thousands, of people. The only part I do not see the point of is uploading knowledge to the brain without teaching it. This would mean no one would need school, since they can get all their knowledge uploaded to their brain. Although that would be cool, I do not think it is 100% necessary. These scientists can do tons of stuff with one little chip that is put in or on the brain. To me, I think this is the greatest piece of technology I've ever heard of.

I find this extremely cool. I have first hand experience with this disease. My great grandmother died from it in 2009 I was very close with her and the only two people she knew when she dies was me and my grandmother. We visited her every day and i slowly saw her decline. Its horrific to watch your loved one slowly forget everything. Little things from her childhood she could remember too but she never could remember the important things that happened in her life. It would have been amazing to see what it would have been like if we had this technology earlier and to see how her life would have been with her memories. (even though it probably would have been really expensive and in that case she probably would have it :l :c )

Man would this be awesome. I would love to never go to calc again have a procedure done and just instantly know it. This is scary that this may be the way we learn some day. It is very interesting but sounds very dangerous. I am interested to learn more about this in the near future.

I think that this is a great new invention for Alzheimer's patients. However because it is such a hug advancement there could always be things that go wrong. Since this involves surgery on the brain, it can be very dangerous. Also many could abuse the new advancement. I do think it is great however because it is amazing for those who lost their memory to get it back.

I think the idea that we will be able to download things to our brains is insane. I think it is great for people who suffer from Alzheimer's. It is kind of like a cure. I feel downloading things directly to our brain is great for the medical field but it could cause problems otherwise.

The idea of this both excites and scares me. To think that things can be downloaded to a brain and possibly help people with memory loss or Alzheimer's is amazing. The CD thing he talked about where you could possibly be conscious after you have died scares me. I think that it is weird and I don't think i would ever want my mind on a CD. I think that while this technology grows it will have positive consequences but that it also could have some negative ones.

I don't think this is a good idea. Yes the evolution of technology is very helpful and has allowed us to conquer incredible things, however, I believe we are relying too much on it. Not everything can or should be solved by the push of a button. It sounds nice to be able to know something by downloading it into your brain but part of knowing and finally understanding of something is the process you took to get there and the struggles you broke through. Being able to "live forever" is something humans are not meant to do, everyone has there turn and when its over we leave to make room for another. It is wrong to even try.

It is amazing how much technology has advanced, and how we now have the power to give people who lost their memory their life back. Not knowing who you are or who your family and friends are can be hard on both the person and their families. Now they can get the pieces of their life they have lost back. There could be other uses to this than just curing Alzheimer's, students in school could use it to remember something in the back of their mind that they definitely have learned but simply cant remember. Also maybe if this technology does succeed, than we could take it to higher levels. Maybe next we could help those with learning disabilities succeed by submitting the information into their brain. Also you could submit a picture of a blind persons family if they haven't actually seen them in a while. Or maybe they love looking at the beach, this technology would allow them to somewhat "see" things again. This technology could be taken further than remembering a lesson a student forgot.

This concept seems like something out of a dystopian novel. The procedure seems like it would be high risk, high reward. I feel like there would be some sort of unforeseen negative side affect resulting from this, and that we are venturing into uncharted waters. The controversy of having such a technologically advanced method at our fingertips is in itself dangerous.

The things that we have been able to do so far with technology are abosolutely astonishing and it just keeps getting more impressive. If eventually we are actually able to upload memories and other information into the human brain it would be a huge development for curing Alzheimer's. Technology is always improving and making huge breakthroughs and this discovery is a perfect example of that.

This whole idea makes me very uncomfortable. I really dislike the idea of my thoughts, feelings, actions, etc. being saved on a disk and allowing me to 'live forever.' Humans were not made to live forever. I do think that this could benefit Alzheimers patients but there could be many unforseen, negative consequences.

The entire concept of being able to upload information to your brain is incredible. With great power comes great responsibility, so yes we should use this power, but not abuse it. Being able to really map out mental illness and how the brain works would benefit a lot of people who suffer heavily from their diseases whether it be schizophrenia or Alzheimer's. Also, if the entire population lived forever, what would become of the earth, of the universe, of the human population? There are too many what ifs for me to be entirely comfortable with this idea.

My question is how the heck do people even start to do things like this. It's absolutely, no pun intended here, mind blowing. What new and even more mind blowing stuff we are going to discover. It is truly amazing.

Science is so amazing. I was in awe by the information given in this video by Michio Kaku, but I was also frightened. The things he was talking about I've only ever seen in science-fiction movies or books. Now that scientists have found a way to make these fictional things real is such a scary thought. It's great that they're finding ways to help with Alzheimer's and mental illnesses, though. That's an awesome way to use science in order to help with the betterment of people's lives. But the stuff about living forever and being able to talk with your great-great-great-great grandchild 300 years from now is so scary! It's not natural! I wouldn't want to live that long. Like some people have said in the earlier comments, humans weren't meant to live forever. Interfering with that is messing with the laws of nature. But it's just so amazing how technology is evolving so quickly and that we're going to be able to do these things. And technology is only going to get more advanced down the future. What will we be able to do a hundred years from now?

The stuff people can invent now is absolutely insane. Downloading information directly to your brain is ridiculously awesome but also ridiculously scary. Sure, this could cure Alzheimers and other mental disorders but is that really all scientists will use this new invention for? I sincerely doubt that. They could make people who know everything in the world and honestly millions of extremely smart people running around with all the information in the world swirling around in their brain is terrifying.

This actually scares me to think that technology has come this far and something like this is possible. It seems like it could be dangerous and its also sort of pathetic. I think that it is pathetic because it shows how we are now relying on technology to do everything for us and has brought on a whole new level of laziness. People legitimately do not have to think for themselves with this technology and thats definitely not a good thing.

I find this technological advancement amazing. Not only can this advancement help those with mental illnesses it gives us a better understanding on how the human mind works. One problem that I have with this advancement is that if someone was uploaded to a screen and could live forever thy wouldn't be able to experience anything that they did when they had a body. Things such as touch, and smell can't exist to a person who is uploaded to a screen. Another problem that I have with this advancement is that living forever could be a blessing or a curse.

Wow. Technology sure has gotten far...this all seems so unbelievable. Uploading memories/ information into the brain and preserving consciousness outside the body? I cannot even begin to imagine just how this would be done. It is amazing how close this technology is moving us towards a cure for Alzheimer's and "living" forever. At the same time, though, the possibilities that this could create frighten me. What if memories could be replaced and the person's identity changed or consciousness was put into an advanced robot who then turned against humanity? I

This is, by far, one of the most impressive things that I have ever seen. Technology has grown rapidly over the course of the last century. This technology just shocks me. I never thought that technology could get to a point of being so advanced that one day we could upload memories to a person's brain. Technology has gotten to the point where some of it can be odd and ridiculous, but some is purely amazing. With this new form of technology with uploading memories, we can help Alzheimer's patients regain their memories. I don't like this idea because I feel like people should not interfere with life, by trying to upload your thoughts into a robot. I feel like everyone has there time, and when I have mine I would like to not have my thoughts uploaded to a robot, just because I think that's creepy.

Though this could be beneficial to a variety of people, i am not quite sure how many people would willingly risk proper brain function for the surgery. It could help those with anxiety to avoid triggers and not have to go to school as well as those suffering from Alzheimer's to get their memories back. It very much so is high risk, high reward but there is no real way to tell how many would be desperate enough to take the risk.

While I think this a good idea for people suffering from memory issues such as Alzheimer's, I don't think that just anyone should be able to use the technology yet. It would be simple to upload information and save time learning by downloading it to your brain, but the experience provided by actual learning can be more valuable than just automatically knowing. I think that in the future people will be able to use the downloading and uploading of information positively, although there will be people who abuse the technology. If everyone learns by automatically uploading, would school, college, and careers be as important? Academically uploading will change the importance of the individual, and while memory downloading is important to those with memory issues, I think that it is too early to allow everyone to access the downloading.

I think this is a really cool idea but its not fair to the people that have been spending there life educating themselves. Also if everyone had this there would be so many fights. Everyone would know everything so people would expand there beliefs and there would be more chaos then there is now.
