According to the College Board the changes that are coming are substantial. They are removing the obscure and rarely used vocabulary terms and replacing them with terms commonly used in college like, "empirical" and "synthesis." The math sections which now are criticized as being sort of scattered and random will be more applied and focused. Additionally the test scoring will return to the 1600 scoring scale and judge "Evidence-Based Reading and Writing."
It is important to note that more and more colleges are not even requiring these traditional form standardized tests as the majority in the academic world feel that they are not a true indicator of ability, knowledge, or potential. If this is the case, why cause students to stress so much with test preparation? Unfortunately that is the current educational world in which we live.... TEST, TEST, TEST.
Perhaps some day we will return to the true purpose of education... learning!
