“Put your earphones away"
“No iPods in school!”
The use of technology has become so much a part of our everyday lives that it is difficult to conceive of our lives without our toys and gadgets. Yes, technology can serve as distractions and cause conflict between students and teachers; however it also connects us to the global community, keeps us informed, and allows us to order delivery pizza without ever having to talk to a person.
The nonprofit organization known was “Reboot” claims that people are too engaged in their technology and the result is that we are now far less engaged with each other. In an attempt to get people away from their phones, computers, and tablets, they have declared March 1 to be a National Day of Unplugging. It is the fourth year in a row the organization has asked people to take a pledge to not use their tech toys for a period of 24 hours.
So this means… no phones, no email, no computers… huh? Is this even possible?
I suppose if you are reading this blog on March 1… you have already failed.
Thoughts?
