On Tuesday evening the President made a brief speech from the Oval Office concerning issues of border security, specifically his argument for the construction of a Border Wall. Most experts have claimed that such a wall is not only not needed, but actually pretty ineffective in stopping illegal immigration. The fact remains that the vast majority of illegal immigrants enter the country legally through airports on travel visas and then simply do not leave - a wall will not address this issue.
Tied to the Wall is the current government shutdown, now stretching into its third week. Due to this shut down over 800,000 federal employees have been ordered either no to show up for work or have been forced to work without pay. The President has vowed not to sign a spending bill unless it includes over 5 billion dollars for the construction of the Wall while House Democrats have vowed never to pass such a bill.
And so we are at a standstill....
So my question to you is, where do you stand on all of this? Who's fault is the shutdown? Should we fund such a Wall?
Thoughts?
